| Austin is a city in the central part of the state of Texas. It is the 15th largest city in the country and has a population of just over 780,000. The MSA area has a population of around 1,770,000. Interstate 35 (I-35) as well as the Mopac Expressway pass along Austin. Temperatures range from a low in the winter of 40 to a high in the summer of about 96. Precipitation averages around two inches per month. The primary newspaper of the area is the Austin American-Statesman. The Texas Memorial Museum is located in Austin as well as the Blanton Museum of Art and Austin Museum of Art. There are numerous recreational areas including the oldest pool in Texas, the Deep Eddy Pool. The main unit of the University of Texas is located in Austin. The area is home to multiple corporations including Dell, Forestar Group, and Whole Foods Market. The Texas state capitol is located in Austin. The University of Texas Longhorns play football at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. |
